Volcano Bay is showing early signs of being highly prospective for battery grade nickel and copper.
Located close to infrastructure just 56km east-south-east of the Western Australian town of Norseman, Volcano Bay sits on the edge of the Archaean Yilgarn Craton in the Fraser Range and hosts extremely promising platinum and palladium elements that point to an ultramafic nickel-copper sulphide deposit.
As recently as 2011, AngloGold-Ashanti Australia Ltd undertook an auger program over Volcano Bay that appears to have identified an ultramafic intrusive that could hold battery grade nickel-copper sulphide.
Several auger values from 20-40ppb combined Pt-Pd were observed across three areas, which is particularly encouraging.
The tenement is close to other Fraser Range successes, including the famous nickel-copper discovery by Sirius Resources (Sirius was subsequently acquired by the $2.5b Independence Group (ASX: IGO)).
It is also prospective for copper-gold, with early exploration having delivered auger values of Au 4 ppb.
